Akiva celebrates our annual Hebrew Language Day at Akiva, which coincided with the birth month of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, a pioneer in the revival of the Hebrew language. This year, we explored together The 16th Lamb (הכבש השישה עשר). Yonatan Gefen (1947–2023) was an Israeli poet, writer, journalist, and songwriter whose work greatly influenced Israeli culture, especially through children’s literature and song lyrics that blend humor, sensitivity, and insight into childhood. Students sang Hebrew songs, learned fun games in Hebrew with our team of Shinshinim, and warmed up to new Hebrew vocabulary with hot cocoa.
