Teaching empathy and the importance of kindness is something that we do everyday at Akiva. On Wednesday, November 12th, our Counselling Department dedicated a whole day to focus on the power of kindness. The day was themed “Our helping hands make the world a better place”. As a lead up to the day, our school hosted a food drive to support Auberge Shalom, a Jewish community-based centre that provides support to women and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence. On the day, students participated in special activities, reading the book “Each Kindness”, and learning all about what it means to be kind and help others.
