Members of the Montreal Alouettes Football team come to speak with Akiva School students.

Wednesday, February 29th, Montreal – The Akiva School had a special treat for students today when members of the Montreal Alouettes stopped by for a visit.  Team members Anthony Barrette, John Bowman, Scott Flory, Kristian Matte and Chima Ihekwoaba, visited Grades 4, 5 and 6 classes to speak with students about good sportsmanship on and off the field.  With today being national Anti-bullying Day in Canada, the team members stressed the important message of standing up against bullying.  The visit was capped off with a friendly Alouettes vs The Akiva School basketball game.

“Our school does not tolerate any form of bullying and has many proactive programs in place to stop it before it begins”, said Cooki Levy, Head of School of The Akiva School. “Having positive role models such as the Montreal Alouettes team members come to speak with our students really helps to reinforce those anti-bullying messages that we already promote on a day-to-day basis at the school. We were thrilled to have them visit with us today.”
