Akiva Grade 4 classes recently completed a learning unit entitled “Imagine a Day” where they worked on their creative writing skills through exploring the art of tall tale storytelling.
Students read stories and delved into character development, setting descriptions and plot rollouts including rising action, conflict, resolution and fact versus fiction. The unit culminated with the students having the authentic life real experience of becoming an author and writing their own Tall Tale. All stories were compiled into a “Tall Tales” book that will be donated to the Montreal Children’s Hospital Library for patients to read during their stay at the hospital.
