“Akiva is a very special place and I am proud to be part of the Akiva family.”
Akiva Alumna – Anastasia Davis Bondarenko
Class of 1998
As we prepared last week at Akiva School to celebrate Rosh HaShanah, the new year and the future, we had a wonderful surprise with a visit from a student from our past. Akiva Alumna, Anastasia Davis Bondarenko, Class of 1998, stopped in to see us while visiting for the holiday from Paris where she now lives. Anastasia came to Akiva School in grade 1, only a few months after having immigrated to Canada from the former Soviet Union. After Akiva, she studied at Herzliah High School and then Marianopolis College. Anastasia went on to study law at the Université de Montréal (Civil Law Degree), University of Ottawa (Common Law Degree) and University of Geneva (Masters Degree in international law). Anastasia now works in Paris as an international arbitration lawyer. (Her sister Helen, also an Akiva graduate, is now a physician.)
“My favourite Akiva memory is the gym show… I will always remember how special that day made all of the students feel. Irrespective of the level of gymnastics, every child was given the opportunity to shine… ”
Anastasia enjoyed her time so much at Akiva as a student, that she came back to help as a gym assistant and as a ballet teacher for extracurricular activities. Once part of the Akiva family, always part of the Akiva family! We are so happy to keep in touch with our Akiva Almuni, like Anastasia, who feel such a connection to our school that they still come back to see us after so many years.
