Parsha Recipe for Emor – Parsha Pie! (Adapted from pragmaticattic.wordpress.com)
Parsha Emor discusses the cycle of holidays: the weekly Shabbat, Passover, Shavuoth, Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Shemini Atzeret. Immediately following this is a discussion of the menorah and the loaves on the “show bread” table.
There is a challah, candlesticks, and a kiddush cup for Shabbos, a shmura matzoh for Pesach, luchot for Shavuoth, a shofar (this is how Rosh haShana is referenced in the parsha), and there was a scale for Yom Kippur that just didn’t make it because it was too delicate. Of course, there is a sukkah for Sukkot, plus a tiny etrog and lulav. The last section has a menorah.
Take your favorite pie recipe and use the leftover pie crust dough to make the shapes. If you are not a baker, you can buy a ready-made pie and some cookie dough to make the holiday shapes.
Shabbat Shalom!
