Purchase a bamboo or similar plain mat or placemat from the dollar store. Paint or write the word “Welcome” or B”ruchim Habaim” in the center of the mat. Decorate the mat with any type of art supplies or ideas supporting the theme of welcoming strangers or chessed. Use these on the Shabbat table to get your children to explain or ask about this week’s parsha.
